Minichromosomal Technology - Connor Sullivan
For my last blog I want to do it over minichromosomal, something new that is coming into the farming world as new technology is being developed. The article that I read which talked about a lot of different technologies and advancements was Ayoka. There website has a lot of cool information on a bunch of different topics that have to do with farming and agriculture.
A minichromosomes is a small structure within a cell that includes very little genetic material but can hold a lot of information. Using minichromosomes, agricultural geneticists can add dozens and perhaps even hundreds of traits to a plant. In a sense they can turn plants into super plants, making them be able to do all kinds of things such as drought tolerance and nitrogen use. It also makes no change to the plants original cells which could be a huge increase in use so that people will buy them more and not be freaked out that it would change something.
