This past Monday, over 100 global leaders pledged to put an end to deforestation by the end of the decade. This includes Brazil, Indonesia, and the Democratic Republic of Congo which account for 85% of the world's forests. in 2020 alone, the earth suffered 258,000 square kilometers of it's forests being cut down. this significantly affects the climate because the trees absorb about 30% of carbon dioxide emissions, which prevent warming the earth. Countries have pledged to provide billions of dollars to assure that their goal is met by 2030. many investors also promised to stop investing in activities that are linked to destroying our forests.

  1. I hope this produces something real. Brazil has had very conflicting laws and policies this century, and their forest keeps getting smaller.

  2. That’s a large amount of deforestation. Hopefully their plans to reduce this issue is fully saw through and has positive effects moving forward.

  3. I really liked your blog, I hope this information is real. If this is real is going to be a big change for the country and for the planet too, after that I hope that other countries start making big moves like that.

  4. I enjoyed reading your blog and how informative it was to the reader. I didn't know how much deforestation was until you gave specific numbers. I really do hope that the plans that were created make a change for the future.
