Satellite-Derived Data By Connor Sullivan

Satellite-Derived Data

Farmers these days can find it hard to track there crops yields, how well there going and different threats that there crops have coming to them. This can make a farmers job even more stressful then how it already is but now there is so new technology coming out that makes it easy for a satellite in space to give the famers all the data they could want

In the article published by the earth observing system website they went into detail about this new technology. The sensors are able to give imagery in various spectrums, allowing for the application to monitor there fields. there are many different applications that these satellites them being, Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), Canopy Chlorophyll Content Index (CCCI), Normalized Difference RedEdge (NDRE), Modified Soil-Adjusted Vegetation Index (MSAVI). these all have there different features that helps keep the crops safe and can predict almost anything. I think that this could propel the agriculture industry to new heights making them save money, have better product, and more efficiently grow there product.

  1. Interesting. Of course, we really need farming, but there are lots of waste/run-off issues now. All these precision techniques could be a big step. Though they also have to be affordable.
