China’s Coal Plant Plan
China, specifically Beijing, has been the “undisputed king of coal” in the world. However, the country just announced that they will stop building coal-burning power plants overseas. Do Jinping, China’s top leader said China, “will not build new coal-fired power projects abroad.” In 2020, China was produced more than three times the amount of coal power capacity than the rest of the countries in the world combined. China has coal plants in more than 12 countries, mainly Asia, that will be affected by this decision. Despite what other countries think, environmentalists and people that are deeply concerned about global warming will be happy to see China taking a big leap in the right direction.

When reading your blog, it caught me by surprise about China stopping to produce coal burning power. I agree that it will affect a lot of countries that depended on Chinas locations of producing coal. Personally I think China set the example when it comes to changing their ways to stop global warming which I love to see. Overall, great post!
ReplyDeleteThis is very good news, with the top coal powered country taking initiative, hopefully we will soon see other major countries do the same
