 Vertical farming:

Billions of trees are cut down each year to increase the land allocated to agricultural expansion and together with water up to 70% of the total fresh water used worldwide is consumed.

Now thanks to the scientists a new era of agriculture is growing and its name is Vertical Agriculture.

The global vertical farming market is expected to have reached a value of $ 9 billion by 2026:

The purpose of this project is to end the original agriculture and start using this project where crops grow vertically in building species, or containers, reworked abandoned warehouses without sunlight or agricultural land, but in a more sustainable and environmentally friendly way. environment.

There are 4 different cultivation methods:

Hydroponics is a type of horticulture and a subset of hydroculture which involves growing plants without soil, by using mineral nutrient solutions in an aqueous solvent.

Aquaponics is a food production system that couples aquaculture with hydroponics whereby the nutrient-rich aquaculture water is fed to hydroponically-grown plants, where nitrifying bacteria convert ammonia into nitrates

Aeroponics is the process of growing plants in an air or mist environment without the use of soil or an aggregate medium. The word "aeroponic" is derived from the Greek meanings of aer and ponos. Aeroponic culture differs from both conventional hydroponics, aquaponics, and in-vitro growing.

Verticrop  A high-density vertical crop production system that produces up to 20 times the yields and uses a fraction of the land, water, and other resources associated with conventional farming.

  2. Reading your post was very interesting. I never knew that vertical farming was a thing! It was also neat reading about the different cultivation methods.

  3. Hi Thomas, I really enjoyed your post and learned some stuff I didn’t know. We as humans definitely need to slow down on cutting down trees and causing deforestation, because it also causes many animals to lose their homes and lives.

  4. Toto, I really liked your post! I like the way you set up the layout of the post as well. The idea of vertical farming is almost scary to me. The idea of plants growing in a building in containers instead of outside in the land makes me nervous to see where we will be in the future.
