Why is there no clean water? (blog 4)

Global Issues: Cambodia's Water Crisis | Membracon

Most of our planet is surrounded by water which is plenty in order to survive. However, freshwater is incredibly rare which is surprising because water covers 70% of our planet. According to WWF, there is only 3% of the world's freshwater, two-thirds of that is tucked away in frozen glaciers or otherwise for our use. Because of this, many people worldwide struggle to access clean water to drink, bathe in, and water farm fields. For the past years, high temperatures have dried up lakes and rivers which has caused wetlands to disappear rapidly in a short amount of time.  Climate change has caused all of these different weather patterns, causing all of these kinds of water droughts affecting a lot of communities around the world.

Water Stress: A Global Problem That's Getting Worse | Council on Foreign Relations

The human population has doubled over the last 50 years which obviously means more food, shelter, water, and several other necessities. Another thing to think about is agriculture and how the large amounts of crops to be fed will soon need to be limited. Why? you may ask, well as I said before 70% of water is accessible but 60% is wasted due to leaky irrigation systems and inefficient application methods.

  2. I think it is sad to see that some people don’t have access to clean water and also how much land is being dried up from climate change. What will happen when climate control is at its worst?

  3. Great work on the blog. I think it's terrible that we keep dumping our waste into our waters. I also think that our filtration system could use some upgrading but, oh well.
