Global farmland at high risk of pesticide pollution

The land is at risk of pesticide pollution because of the chemicals being used on the plants and it leaching into the water supply. According their research “ The study, published in Nature Geoscience, found that overall 64 percent of global  was at risk of pesticide pollution from more than one active ingredient, and 31 percent is at high risk”. Having that much of our land be at risk is very detrimental to our world today.

    Hello Megan I had no idea the chemicals used on plants were that harmful to us and went into our water systems, that is very scary to say the least. Overall I think you did a great job and had a great image, but possibly add more information on your topic next time!

    Good work, but what is the reasoning of using chemicals on plants ? It’s crazy how 31 percent of our land is at high risk and 64 percent was a risk of pesticide pollution

     This will be the last blog post I  do on this topic, I have been researching and learning about the issues of conservation and extinction for several weeks now and I feel a lot more personally connected to this issue. this exercise has helped me gain a new understanding of the threat we face in our world today. Biodiversity is very essential in large ecosystems. The most noticeable, is the resource availability. With plenty of water, comes plenty of insects. The insects pollenate plants, which bring in amphibians and rodents, and fish. This draws in small predators like birds, reptiles, fox, and many more and this keeps going on and on. As long as the biodiversity is large within an ecosystem, it will continue to grow. Reintroducing biodiversity could rejuvenate a declining ecosystem as well, but this needs to be done very intricately so you do not cause a situation like the invasive species which causes a new issue.
