When people think about deforestation, they usually think the main issue of it is taking away the homes of many animals and insects. Although that is very true, there is a lot more issues deforestation causes than just taking away animal’s homes. Trees play a huge role in regulating the climate. They absorb carbon dioxide, but when they are cut down even more carbon is released into the air and allow more greenhouse gases to be absorbed in the atmosphere. Trees also help contain water and topsoil, so without trees that soil erodes and washes away. This means that farmers are unable to grow crops and there is a increased chance of that area flooding. And of course wildlife is greatly affected by deforestation. Over 70%of plants, animals, and insects inhabit a forest environment, but almost 80% of the earth’s forests have either been destroyed or irreparably damaged.
Hi Caleb I thought you gave some good information on the topic and also agree that most people think deforestation is taking away animal homes but it also the climate in a big way.
