India's Coal Shortage by Ava Lairmore

In power plants throughout India, people are facing a coal shortage.  Due to this, India could be experiencing electricity shortages very soon as well.

"As many as 63 of the 135 coal-fired power plants in Asia's third largest economy have two days — or less — of coal supplies, India's Central Electricity Authority (CEA) said in a report on Tuesday. Coal stocks at 17 of them have been run down to zero."

While the companies are in a very dire state, they should be able to manage for more than a matter of days. This is only if the plants do not face other issues or shortages in the near future, as "coal accounts for almost 70% of the country's electricity generation." Supplying proves difficult with weather conditions, like rain, because of the season. They also face issues of people wanting less coal mining due to environmentalists battling climate change.
