The scarce water in Latin America:

If you go into your bathroom like a normal day to wash your hands, surely when the water comes out it will be drinkable like every day.  But did you ever think that what the municipality, the city or the region where you live from did to provide you and guarantee that you have drinking water?

Like everyone in the world we pay taxes, so when we turn on our tap we have to have clean water.  Water is not such a rare element, after all it is only hydrogen with oxygen.  Sea water and oceans on our planet occupy approximately 2/3 of our planet, leaving more than half of our planet under water.  Some day it can and will happen in the future that we get up and try to find a glass of water and we do not have drinking water.  This problem, which in my opinion, there is not much left to happen will be because the reserves of fresh water on our planet, which is the type of water that we can consume, will have been exhausted.  Fresh water can be found in Glaciers, Rivers, Groundwater, in the Arctic or in Antarctica.

There are countries where they grew together with large aquiferous deposits, but there are others that did not have that luck and their inhabitants are victims of having little drinking water, so when the water is dirty, people end up getting sick and contracting great diseases.

These are some of the many countries that are most at risk of not being able to supply the population with the water they need in the coming decades:

                                                   Ecuador:

                              Costa Rica:

                                   Venezuela:

                               Argentina:

  1. I had no clue there were so many countries struggling with adequate water sources. It would be cool to see some statistics or new articles over the issue.

  2. Hi Tomas, it’s crazy that there are still countries struggling to get clean water, it really puts into perspective how privileged we are. It’s weird to think that we could run out of drinking water even though most the earth is covered in water.

  3. I really liked your blog and especially your introduction. You gave your opinion on the increasing scarcity of water and I totally agree with it. We NEED to do something before we all run out of drinking water. I can’t imagine having a glass with water that isn’t drinkable… I like that you included a lot of pictures and that you chose a video instead of an article.
