Blog 5 conservation and extinction Natasha Provinse
During the countrys locdown, the conservation of this criticaly endagered species has been effected. This powerful bird is the Philippine Eagle. Even with the limitations that conservationists face, they have rescued seven eagles and even sighted two new familes, according to Mongabay. The report states, "The Philippine eagle (Pithecopaga jefferyi) enjoys a special status as the national bird of the Southeast Asian nation, but faces extinction due to hunting and loss of habitat." Killing one of these birds is illigal in the Philippines and people can face 12 years in jail for doing so.
According to CK-12.org ninetynine percent of all species tht have ever lived on earth have gone extinct. 99%. The destruction is not just happening, we as humans are causing this, and it is repulsing to see that we are so selfish we have no remorse to these creatures living on earth. Ck-12 states, "The single biggest cause of extinction today is habitat loss. Agriculture, forestry, mining, and urbanization have disturbed or destroyed more than half of Earth’s land area."
There are other factors that effect this mass extinction happening today, they include;
- Exotic species introduced by humans into new habitats.
- Over harvesting of fish, trees, and other organisims.
- Global climate change due to the mass burning of fossil fules
- Pollution, which adds chemicals, heat, and noise to the environment beyond its capacity to absorb them
- Human overpopulation, which is crowding out other species. It also makes all the other causes of extinction worse.

I do agree that global climate change, pollution, and human overpopulation are some factors that can cause extinction to certain species of animals. I liked how you were specific on one bird and then gave an overview as well.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, I ti hi kids you did a very good job with this blog. In fact it’s horrible to think how humans are devastating natural habitats finishing with a lot of animal especies and we’re not making nothing to stop this
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with your post mostly when you talked about global climate change and the factor that can cause extinction with not only birds but other animals also. Hopefully we can make a change sooner before everything goes extinct.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with your post about how climate change and many other factors are hurting a lot of different animal species. I liked how you talked about a specific animal (bird). I also liked how you gave your readers a direct quote that was related to your blog about endangered species.
