Blog 4 the loss of biodiversity and its effect on the Environment

 Mason Mitchell

Biodiversity is defined as the verity of life in the world or in a particular habitat or ecosystem. So when a certain habitat or ecosystem loses its biodiversity it can completely wipe out any remaining species living there. Now you may be wondering how does this issue occur. Well some biodiversity loss can be natural. This can occur in season changes however this creates opportunities for feeding and breeding and will help the ecosystem thrive. Other natural biodiversity loss can occur because of environmental disasters such as wildfires, tornadoes, floods etc. this does create huge losses in ecosystems but its only temporary as eventually that ecosystem can rebuild on its own. When the biodiversity loss is human driven thats when it becomes the issue.things like pollution, over exploitation, climate change, invasive species spreading, and habitat loss are all causes of this.these things can cause certain species to become endangered or even extinct.

The only way to slow down biodiversity loss and help it lean towards more natural causes is to really just be more aware of your environment. There really isn’t anything we can do to completely get rid of it but being more aware of major environmental issues like habitat loss and climate change will help immensely.

  1. I found your post very interesting. It is sort of odd and sad that humans seem to sometimes not care about not just the environment, but the species that call that environment home, and we ruin the lives of so many animals it should concern more people than it does.

  3. Hi Mason, I really enjoyed reading your article. It is time for us as humans to step up and stop destroying our beautiful planet, you can add to your blog a YouTube link so people can watch more information about this topic but you did a very good job with this
