Today’s Agriculture within the Environment w/ Kayce Messner

In today’s world everyone will have a different view on Agriculture, but before anyone goes around saying we don’t need local farms; they need to go check their facts. It’s not the big farming operations that are feeding America, it’s the 2,204,792 family farms. For those that need that in percentage that is 96% of all farms in America are family own and operated. Out of the 96% on average 88% of the family farms are main producers for our American agriculture. As stated in the article above 42% of all wetlands were taken away or drained throughout the years. I believe and know first hand that this is happening because one farmers need more land to produce crops for food, two because we are having to give up our land for an average American to build a house on. Agriculture requires a high productivity of crop rotation and agrochemicals. As stated in the article “ understanding environmental consequences of agricultural production is critical to minimize unintended environmental consequences.” I agree that we need to have improvements with our chemical waste, put more use into technology, our natural resources; as well as adjustments with conservation policies. We need to do this to ensure a lifetime of happiness for not only ourselves but the well being of the generations to come.

I’m going to refer back to the FFA creed on this comment.

I believe that American agriculture can and will hold true to the best traditions of our national life and that I can exert and influence in my home and community which will stand solid for my part in that inspiring task. “ EM Tiffany”
