The Importance of Water
Water is the main source of survival. The ocean can survive without us, but we as humans can not exist without the ocean. It is the primary source of life support for humans. Sea Plants, like Posidonia, produce 70% of the oxygen we breathe. The ocean is also the #1 source of protein for more than a billion people. The ocean also produces more than a million jobs. By 2030 ocean-based industries will provide at least 40 million people with jobs worldwide. The oceans are very crucial to Earth’s climate. The first ten feet of the ocean stores more heat than the entire atmosphere. Due to changes in the climate the ocean is having to work faster and harder than ever before. Agreements have been made about the ever changing climate. The Paris Climate Summit agreed that in order to help maintain the climate, oceans need to be apart of that change. Everyone needs to commit to changing the ocean because once it’s gone human kind will be no more. A healthy ocean means a healthy planet!
