Causes of Land Pollution

Main Causes of Land Pollution

Land pollution can happen from various ways such as left over debris from hurricanes or tornadoes, construction, or other hazardous materials. Landfills that go over their capacity can expose the environment to waste. Parts of sewage treatment is also sent to landfills which adds more pollutants to the environment. The waste from nuclear weapons production makes disposing of these very difficult. In the ground, some of the radioactive materials can contaminate the water. After mining, these spots are often left with an opening for wildlife or plants to get into. With the underground operations the top layers can collapse and it affects the ecosystems. With these causes I have stated and in addition to more causes on this link, it proves how many different things can pollute our land.

  1. Hello Megan, your blog really showed me a lot of ways different things cause waste and pollution to our environment. And on your point of nuclear waste, I didn't know how difficult it was to dispose of it and how harmful it can be.
